PSN now allows for 2000 friends following update

PSN now allows for 2000 friends following update

Sony updates PlayStation Network ahead of PS4 launch

Sony has deployed an update for PlayStation Network increasing the friend limit to 2000 in preparation for the arrival of PS4.

Following changes assumedly made during Thursday's PSN maintenance downtime, PSN users are now able to exceed the previous limit of 100 friends.

While all 2000 friends will be viewable on PS4 and Vita, the PS3 will only display a maximum of 100 friends, automatically filtered by their online status and their names in alphabetical order.

You will also be able to set and lock a pre-determined list of friends whom you wish to be always listed on PS3.

"Support for the ability to display all of your friends in most applications and games is planned, however, some titles will be limited to the current 100 Friends limit," said Sony.

The update comes ahead of the launch of PS4 which was previously confirmed to boast a friends list limit of 2000.

We are now just days away from the PS4 launch date of November 15 in US and November 29 in Europe and Latin America.

Sony has confirmed a PS4 launch lineup of 22 titles in North America, and a slightly differing list of 21 games in Europe.
